IPMT-HIMAT (Institute of Professional Maritime Technologies – Higher Institute of Maritime and Technological Applications) is a private university institute that began its journey in 2013. Initially founded as a vocational training center under the name IPMT, the institute aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical skill development in the maritime and technical sectors. After a few years of impactful service, the institution was relocated to the city of Souza, where it evolved into a full-fledged higher education institute known as IPMT-HIMAT.

From its inception, IPMT-HIMAT has remained committed to providing hands-on, industry-relevant training that meets the demands of the national and international job markets. A milestone in our early history was the successful partnership with the National Employment Fund (FNE) in 2013, which allowed us to train students in marine mechanics. These students completed internships on real vessels facilitated by IPMT-HIMAT, and as a result, three of them secured employment with the shipping company GULF FISHERIE. This early success story reflects our strong industry links and dedication to student outcomes.
